Software installation AEACI 2026
We will be using different pieces of software during the course. We strongly recommend that you install the software in advance following the instructions in this page.
SalsaJ – (Such a Lovely Software for Astronomy in Java)
SalsaJ is a very nice image processing software that allows students to replicate scientific discoveries. So it is worth the effort to make it work 🙂 !!
- SalsaJ needs Java in order to be operational. Make sure you have the software installed in your computer and that you have the latest version installed. If you don’t have the software you can find it here: https://www.java.com/
- Once you have Java installed, it’s time to install SalsaJ. Download SalsaJ for your operating system from the following link: https://www.euhou.net/index.php/salsaj-software-mainmenu-9
NOTE 1: If the link doesn’t work, you can alternatively download the software from this folder: https://cloud.iac.es/index.php/s/xmggqfFW8QwqDHc
- Windows: SalsaJ_with_macros_2_3_windows_installer.exe
- Mac: SalsaJ_with_macros_2_3_mac.dmg
- Linux: SalsaJ_with_macro_2_3_linux.tgz
NOTE 2: If you have problems with Java, check this FAQ (in Spanish): https://outreach.iac.es/peter/preguntas/question/problemas-con-java-al-usar-petersoft-o-salsaj
You can also follow the steps indicated in this video tutorial (only in Spanish).
