{"id":2463,"date":"2022-06-12T01:15:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-12T01:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/outreach.iac.es\/peter\/?page_id=2463"},"modified":"2022-07-21T18:02:40","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T18:02:40","slug":"aeaci-2022","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/outreach.iac.es\/peter\/aeaci-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"AEACI 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><strong>Welcome to AEACI 2022!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iac.es\/\">Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de Canarias (IAC)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nuclio.org\/\">NUCLIO<\/a> organize the eighth edition of the International School <strong>Astronomy Education Adventure in the Canary Islands<\/strong> under the theme &#8220;<strong>Astronomy for Sustainable Development<\/strong>&#8221; with the aim of joining the celebrations of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iybssd2022.org\/en\/home\/\">International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school will be held from <strong>July 24 to 29, 2022<\/strong> in a <strong>hybrid format<\/strong>, both face-to-face in San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna (Tenerife, Canary Islands) and online, allowing participants from all over the world to enjoy the unique AEACI experience at their best convenience and in a sustainable way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teachers of all grade levels and subject domains, as well as informal educators, are invited to attend the school and dive into a real STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) experience.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #01b507;\">ABOUT THE SCHOOL<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">General Information<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n<p><strong>Dates:<\/strong> July 24-29, 2022 (July 30 optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 30 certifiable hours<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Modality:<\/strong> hybrid (in-person and online)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Language: <\/strong>English<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Venue:<\/strong> IACTEC and IAC headquarters, both in San Crist\u00f3bal de La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain)<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Topics and lecturers<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The school consists of lectures and workshops on Astronomy and Astrophysics, with a marked practical and interactive character, emphasizing the use of robotic telescopes for developing student research projects, as well as other resources and online laboratories, inquiry-based learning and the multidisciplinary approach. The program also includes training visits (face-to-face and virtual) to the IAC facilities and to the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iac.es\/en\/observatorios-de-canarias\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&nbsp;Observatories of the Canary Islands<\/strong><\/a>. All this with a special focus on how Astronomy can and does contribute to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school&#8217;s contents will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#01b507\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Astronomy for the new generations<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#01b507\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Astronomy for planet Earth<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#01b507\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Astronomy for future homes<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/outreach.iac.es\/peter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/AEACI2022_lecturers.pdf\">Lecturers<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Timetable<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n<p><strong>Morning programme: <\/strong>It comprises<strong> 4 sessions of 3 hours + <\/strong>30\u2019 coffee breaks (July 25 &#8211; 28) and<strong> 1 session of 2.5 hours<\/strong> (July 29)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Afternoon programme: <\/strong>It will include <strong>4 sessions of 2 hours<\/strong> + 15\u2019 Warm-ups (July 25 &#8211; 28) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following activities are also part of the on-site programme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Welcome event<\/strong> on the evening of July 24, including a Reception cocktail.<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Visit to the Teide Observatory<\/strong> in Iza\u00f1a (Tenerife) on the afternoon-evening of July 29.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An <strong>optional visit to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory<\/strong> on the neighbouring island of La Palma will be offered on July 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/outreach.iac.es\/peter\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Program_AEACI2022_vF.pdf\">School Programme<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #01b507;\">ATTENDING THE SCHOOL<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Registration<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n<p>Registration will be open <strong>until 15 July<\/strong> (or until full capacity is reached) and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to teachers working in public schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will admit up to <strong>50 on-site attendees<\/strong> and <strong>200 online attendees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/UbQ0MhVRBv\">Registration Form<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Fees &amp; Funding<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The school is partially funded by the <strong>Communication and Outreach Unit<\/strong> and the <strong>Severo Ochoa Programme<\/strong> <strong>of the IAC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendance to the school requires a registration fee for accepted face-to-face participants which covers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Welcome cocktail on July 24<\/li><li>Morning coffee during the lecture days<\/li><li>Lunch at the school venue<\/li><li>Visit to the Teide Observatory, Tenerife, on July 29 (including transportation, guided visit, activities and dinner)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>registration fee<\/strong> is: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>80 \u20ac<\/strong> for on-site participants from Spain (fee partially funded by the IAC).<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>400 \u20ac<\/strong> for on-site participants from outside Spain.<\/li><li style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>10 \u20ac<\/strong> for online participants. This symbolic fee will go entirely to the <a href=\"https:\/\/trust.nuclio.org\/\">NUCLIO Trust<\/a> programme to help students from developing countries to pursue university studies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.magnacongresos.com\/aeaci2022\">Payment Form<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>limited number of grants<\/strong> may be awarded by the IAC to cover part of the costs of participants who do not have sources of funding. Applicants who require grants may indicate this on the payment form, once they have registered. Participants who are awarded a grant will be informed by <strong>July<\/strong> <strong>18<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline for the payment is July 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also planning an optional&nbsp;visit to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iac.es\/en\/observatorios-de-canarias\/roque-de-los-muchachos-observatory\">Roque de los Muchachos Observatory <\/a>&nbsp;in the beautiful island of <strong>La Palma<\/strong>, on <strong>Saturday July 30<\/strong>, with an estimated <strong>additional cost of 100 \u20ac for Canarian residents <\/strong>and <strong>200 \u20ac for non-residents<\/strong>.
